We often look to avoid classic food pleasures in order to stay on a low fat lifestyle. However, that does not have to always be the case with low fat recipes. Take for instance this turkey chili. How could that ever be healthy? Well, you’ll be surprised to know that this chili has 370 calories, 20% of fat, 12% of carbs, 32% of fiber, 43% of sodium, and a whopping 73% of protein! It is obvious that you are going to need good protein in order to nurture muscles when working out. So why not have fun with that protein and allow yourself to enjoy this chili sauce?

Ingredients:

To start getting this bowl of awesome ready, you will need to gather the following items.

2 16 oz. cans of red kidney beans

1 lb of lean ground turkey

3 cloves of garlic (minced)

1 chopped green bell pepper

1 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes

1 chopped yellow onion

1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon of cumin

1/4 cup of hot sauce (we recommend our Sauce No. 10)

1/2 teaspoon of oregano

3 tablespoons of chili powder

1 cup of water

salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Now it is time to get cracking! First, get a large cast iron soup pot. Place a couple of teaspoons of oil into the pot and add in the ground turkey to brown it (medium-high heat). Once you can tell it is almost cooked through, put in the green pepper, onion, and garlic. Cook them for a few minutes while stirring often.  Now it is time to lower the heat to low. Add in the spices, stir them together, and then add in the hot sauce (Sauce No. 10), water, tomatoes, and kidney beans. Now cover the pot with the lid and cook it on low for one hour. When that hour is over it is ready to serve! It is recommended by the original source that a dollop of low fat sour cream and chopped scallions go great with this chili.
